IN SERVICE
• U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Hannah Anaya is serving aboard the USS Carl Vinson as an aviation support equipment technician. An aviation support equipment technician is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of aviation support equipment. Homeported in San Diego, USS Carl Vinson is the United States Navy’s third Nimitz-class supercarrier. Anaya is a 2018 graduate of Warren Woods Tower High School, Warren.
• U.S. Navy Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Equipment) 1st Class Matthew Fulks, a resident of Utica, is assigned to the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan in the Philippine Sea. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
• U.S. Navy Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Aircraft Handler) 2nd Class Francisco Perezguillen, a resident of Grosse Pointe Park, serves at Naval Air Station Sigonella Fire and Emergency Services department. He is responsible for conducting operational checks and inventory of all the emergency vehicles. He is also in charge of the Air Sampling Program, which ensures the breathing air for the self-contained breathing apparatus packs are safe and ready for use at all times. He joined the Navy in October 2014.
• U.S. Navy Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class Nicolas Food, a resident of Warren, is assigned to Ford’s engineering department. The Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group is deployed in the Atlantic Ocean, conducting training and operations alongside NATO Allies and partners to enhance integration for future operations and demonstrate the U.S. Navy’s commitment to a peaceful, stable and conflict-free Atlantic region.
• U.S. Navy Staff Sgt. Ashley Gonzalez, a resident of Sterling Heights is assigned to the hospital ship USNS Comfort. Comfort is deployed to U.S. 4th Fleet in support of Continuing Promise 2022, a humanitarian assistance and goodwill mission conducting direct medical care, expeditionary veterinary care, and subject matter expert exchanges with five partner nations in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
