A 19-year-old Roseville man is accused of providing the handgun that a 13-year-old youth used Monday to shoot a parent outside of Roseville Middle School.

Deandre Demon Parks, who has two unrelated gun charges pending, was arraigned Wednesday by Judge Alyia Hakim in 39th District Court with carrying a concealed weapon in connection with the incident in which a 40-year-male was shot twice by the 13-year-old outside the school near Martin Road between Groesbeck Highway and Gratiot Avenue.

The victim was picking up his child or children from school about 3 p.m. Monday when he noticed the juvenile causing a disturbance among students outside the school, tried to intervene and was shot twice by the youth. The victim was in stable condition Tuesday.

The youth fled on foot and was captured by police a short time later.

The shooter had been expelled from Roseville schools and was trying to engage students in altercations outside the building, police said

Roseville police investigators determined Parks furnished the gun to the youth and arrested him at his Maple Street home off Martin, police said. He was released on personal bond but is expected to face additional charges, police added.

Carrying a concealed weapon is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Police said Parks has had “numerous” prior contacts with police. In an unrelated matter, Parks is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and receiving and concealing a stolen firearm for an incident last Nov. 9 in Roseville, according to 39th District Court records.

Both cases are scheduled for a March 15 probable cause conference and March 22 preliminary examination.

Meanwhile, the youth who fired the shots was charged Tuesday in Macomb County Juvenile Court with attempted murder, carrying a concealed weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a weapon in a school zone.

He was being held in the Juvenile Justice Center after appearing in juvenile court; it was unclear whether he will be charged as an adult.
