Chesterfield Township Library
• Online learning tools for young children up to adult learners are available with a free library card at chelibrary. org. Residents may also apply for a free card at the website.
• Online streaming and download services are also available at chelibrary.org, including Hoopla, Libby by OverDrive and cloudLibrary for e-books and audiobooks, TV shows, music and more.

Clinton-Macomb Public Library
• The South Branch will host a workshop with A2 Magic at 2 p.m. April 5. Tweens 8-12 years old, may attend a magic workshop where to learn some awesome, yet simple tricks to amaze your family and friends. All props and materials will be provided. Call 586-226-5073 to register.
• The Main Library will host a session of playdough learning on 10 a.m. April 12. Kids ages 2-5 will use playdough to make letters and shapes, learn to count, and more. Call 586226-5030 to register.
• The North Branch will present a program on pirates of the Great Lakes at 3 p.m. April 19. Ellen Kennedy, Education and Visitor Experience Director, National Museum of the Great Lakes, will explore a historical and cultural re-examination of piracy on the Great Lakes. • CMPL is again offering the 1-2-3 program combining one topic, two communities and three age appropriate books that discuss a particular topic. This year is climate change. Intentional programming centered on the topic will be offered. Books chosen are ‘The Tantrum that Saved the World’ by Megan Herbert and Michael E. Mann for children; ‘Dry’ by Neal Shusterman for teens and ‘The Story of More: How we got to climate change and where to go from here’ by Hope Jackson.

Eastpointe Public Library
• The library has an ongoing canned food drive. Non-perishable foods can be dropped off during open hours.
• The library is open for curbside service and phone reference service during regular hours. Patrons can place holds on items through the catalog or call to request materials. It is open to the public. Masks must be worn and social distancing practiced. Patrons will have access to library materials, computers, and copiers. Fraser Public Library
• The library is open for curbside pick-up Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Patrons who wish to checkout materials should call the library (586-293-2055) to checkout over the phone and then call again when they’re in the parking lot.

Harrison Township Public Library
• Chess Club 4 p.m. April 5 and 19 New club now forming. Join us to play and learn. All play levels welcome from absolute beginners to advanced. Ages 2-120. We hope to make this a regular bi-weekly meeting.
•Upcycled Book Flowers 6-7:30 p.m. April 6. Up-cycle some old books into beautiful paper flower bouquets. We will teach you how to make three different types of flowers, and supplies are provided. Space is limited to 30. Registration in advance required.
• Knitting and Crochet Circle 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Tuesdays April 11, 18 and 25. Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome. Please bring your own project and supplies. Items are donated to charitable organizations and the group is also accepting donations of yarn, fleece or craft store gift cards. Group donates to charitable organizations like Beaumont Little Angels, Project Linus, Compassion Pregnancy and more to give comfort items in times of need. Also accepting donations of Beanie Babies for children that are in need of comfort.
• Writer’s Group at the Library at 6:30 p.m. April 12. All levels of writers who wish to collaborate with other local writers are welcome, explore publishing options, get professional instruction, workshop writing, and meet visiting authors.

Real World Survival Guide:
Build and Protect Your Credit with MSU Extension on Zoom at 6 p.m. April 12. Join MSU Extension & Harrison Township for a workshop on

Tales with Tails 5-6:30 p.m. April 13 Sign your child up for a 15-minute session to read to Bailey, a gentle therapy dog. What a fun way to practice reading and build those skills. Stop by the library or call 586329-1261 to register for a time slot.

MacDonald Public Library

Ray Township Library
• Friends of the Library and Historical Society has released its 2023 calendar titled ‘School Days: Lessons from Our Past’ which is available for purchase for $10 at the Ray Township offices and library as well as the Octagon House, Romeo
Arts and Archives Center and Washington Museum. It will feature historical images of the schools throughout the community, from the 1860’s one-room schoolhouses to the earliest Romeo Senior High School buildings as well as inspirational sayings on education and learning. • Romeo Reads: 3rd annual Community Read Feb. 1-April
20. This year’s read is Call Me Athena: Girl from Detroit by Colby Cedar Smith. Be part of Romeo Reads by reading Call Me Athena and partaking in books discussions, educational and entertaining programs and an author visit from Colby Cedar Smith. Books are available for check out from the Romeo District Library or from the SLC coop. You may also purchase signed copies at either branch of the Romeo District Library. •Paper Bead Bracelet 6-7:30 p.m. April 11 Come and learn how to make paper beads, and take home a bracelet! Registration required.
•Tail Waggin Tutors: Prescott 1-3 p.m. April 15 Children age 4-12 can practice 15 minutes reading aloud from a book of their choice to our friendly therapy dog. Reading with a dog can help young readers become more confident as they discover the joy of reading. Registration is required for a 15-minute reading timeslot. Registration opens one week prior to event.
• RHGS Program: Willow Run and the Story of Rosie the Riveter 6-8 p.m. April 18 Claire Kitchin Dahl will share the incredible history of the Willow Run B-24 Bomber Plant and the teamwork of the powerful Detroit automotive industry.

St. Clair Shores Public Library
• Seed Bombs 2 and 3 p.m. April 6. Children ages 5 and up are invited to join the Youth Service Department of the St. Clair Shores Public Library and the Clinton River Watershed Council to create seed bombs. A presenter from the Council will share information about native plants and why they are so important. Then children will get the chance to make seed bombs using potting soil, natural clay powder, seeds, and a little water. Registration is required.
Beatles Forever: A Short Story with Music at 2 p.m. April 16 at Blossom Heath Bath House. This is a humorous musical memoir about growing up in St. Clair Shores during the British invasion and features 28 popular Beatles songs. Liebler’s multi-media show is accompanied by musicians Rick and Max Beardsley, LouDLou, Brian Dean, and Ted Nagy.
• 1st Stop for Tots will be at 10 a.m. Mondays on the grounds of the Selinksy-Green Farmhouse Museum includes 30 minutes of songs, rhymes and a story. • 1st Stop For Tots At Home kits. Families with children between the age of birth and age 3 that reside in St. Clair Shores can request a kit. They contain one board book, one Easy book, on shaky egg, once scarf, one set of bells, two rhythm sticks, one Basic Skills Practice Ring set, a rhyme booklet, a Tips sheet and TALK promotional materials for families to keep. • The Youth Services department, with the help of grant funding, has created 14 Explorer packs for children and families to check out. Each pack contains learning tools, non fiction books, activity sheets, identification guides and other manipulatives centered on an outdoor activity. Topics include insects, bird watching, astronomy water, hiking, plants and rocks. To check out an Explorer pack or for more information, ask at the Youth Services Desk.

Shelby Township Public Library
The library reopened to the public on March 6. Some programs and activities have been rescheduled while the library deals with the remediation process. For up to date program schedules visit shelbytwp.org/ library or visit the Library’s Facebook page.

Sterling Heights Public Library
• Library cardholders can reserve a time to use the Maker’s Space by appointment. Look for Maker Space Lab on the program calendar.
• Biblio Book Box offered for adults and Teen Book Box for teens offered every month. Register and a librarian will will pick a book based on your preferences and include a surprise.
• Toddler Time and Preschool storytimes are both offered at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays. Registration is required. Check the library calendar for full details.
• PAWS for Reading 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays. The first 10 children to check in at the youth desk on Tuesday nights will be able to read to a therapy dog.
• The Upton House is open for self guided tours from 1-4 p.m. every Wednesday and second Sunday of the month. Register up to six people in a household. Registration only required for Wednesdays.

• Sterling Heights Public Library will continue curbside materials service, phone service, and home delivery/ outreach service on Monday — Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, 24/7 digital library services are available at shpl.net. The library will be returning to virtual programming only.

Warren Public Libraries
• All Warren public library branches will be able to offer a telescope for patrons to check out with a valid library card thanks to being selected to be part of NASA @ My Library, an education initiative to increase and enhance science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) opportunities for library patrons. The Warren Civic Center library will offer telescope events throughout the year as well.
Warren Busch Branch Library
• Grab-and-Go Science at Busch Branch Library has science themed kits available for check out exploring topics in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with fun and kid-friendly hands on activities. Each kit also contains a related book and instructions. For children, tweens and teens ages six and up, recommended ages vary by kit and activity. More kits will be added to the collection soon. They can be checked out for 21 days and renewed up to two times and must be checked out and returned to the Busch Branch.

Warren Civic Center Library
• PAWS To Read 5-6 p.m. Wednesdays. Children of all ages can come and read to therapy dog Desmond, a 130 pound Newfypoo. The PAWS program welcomes new and struggling readers to read to a certified therapy dog. The goal is to provide a non-judgmental atmosphere in which kids can read without correction or interruption and learn not just to read, but to love reading as well.
• Babies Love Books is being relaunched with expanded kits. They are available for families that live in Warren with children from birth to age 3. Based on the Library of Michigan’s Ready to Read program and will focus on Talk, Sing, Read, Write and Play. Designed to help develop early literacy skills and instill a love of reading in the very young. Families who return a brief survey included with the kit will be eligible for a second kit with new books and activities.
• Families that are residents of Warren and has a child between the ages of 3-5 is eligible to receive a free early literacy kit to help prepare children for their kindergarten year. Kits include two activity workbooks and an early reader book to practice sight words. Kits are available for pickup at the Warren Civic Center Library and will also be available at children’s programs that are offsite. Children must be present for a kit to be issued.
• The library also has purchased Playaway Launchpads, which are tablets that are preloaded with educational preschool games and are available for checkout with a library card.
The library is located at 1City Square, Suite 100, Warren. All Macomb County libraries, as part of the Suburban Library Cooperative, subscribe to RB Digital which has over 100 digital magazines that can be checked out immediately. They also offer educational services through Tutor.com, which provides homework help, test preparation and term paper and resume review. Students can use their student ID number to access those services.
