Road rage case leads to drug seizure
The Warren Police Department’s investigation of a road rage incident resulted in the seizure of cash, illegal narcotics and guns, according to Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer.
“This case shows how investigations into crimes often link to other types of serious criminal activity,” said Dwyer. “Our investigators immediately began working this case due to the serious nature of road rage incident.
“Through the investigation, officers were able to take two suspects into custody and, in the process, take several guns and significant quantities of drugs off the street.”
On Jan. 28, officers were dispatched to the area of 12 Mile and Hoover roads regarding a road rage incident where shots were reportedly fired. Witnesses told police that one suspect fired a gun, then fled the scene.
No one was injured during the incident.
Warren police detectives launched an investigation into the road rage incident and were able to identify the suspect vehicle. Detectives were then able to determine the location of the suspect’s residence in the area of Hoover and 13 Mile roads.
On Feb.15, Warren police executed a search warrant at that residence and discovered approximately $72,000 in cash; four handguns; one rifle; one shotgun; 15 pounds of marijuana and 23 grams of cocaine. Investigators also located several pieces of high-end jewelry that police say could be possibly linked to narcotics activity.
Two adult males present at the residence were taken into custody.
Warren resident Mubashir Haydar, 33, and Hamtramck resident Mustanzar Haydar, 28, are each charged with delivery and manufacture of cocaine less than 50 grams, a 20-year felony, and delivery and manufacture of marijuana, a fouryear felony.

Haydar is also charged with felony firearm, a two-year felony, and one-year misdemeanor fourth degree child abuse for having unsecured firearms in a residence where children are present.
“We are also very fortunate that no tragedies occurred inside the residence given that there were juveniles inside with several unsecured firearms,” Dwyer said.
Both suspects were arraigned at the 37th District Court before Judge Chupa wherein not guilty pleas were entered. Bond was set at $50,000 cash/surety for Mubashir Haydar and $75,000 cash/surety for Mustanzar Haydar. Both suspects have no previous criminal history.
Their next court date is set for Feb. 29.
“Again, we see a gun being used in another senseless case of road rage,” Dwyer said. “We are all thankful that nobody was injured over a situation that, like almost all road rage cases, was completely preventable.”
