A 27-year-old New Baltimore man was arraigned on fleeing and eluding charges Wednesday after he led police on a chase through two Macomb County communities.

Brayden Raymond Medrano was arraigned Wednesday in 41A District Court in Shelby Township. Magistrate James Verploeg set bond at $5,000.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted a blue Chevy Silverado pickup truck traveling faster than other motorists about 10 p.m. on 23 Mile Road, east of Romeo Plank Road, in Macomb Township.

Deputies said the driver was erratically merging lanes and cutting off other vehicles, so they began to follow the truck. A deputy followed the driver who went south on to Middle River Drive and attempted to make a traffic stop.

“The suspect continued to accelerate away from the deputy, traveling on Sandpiper Drive, Riverside Drive, and Calypso Drive, before returning to Middle River Drive and ultimately 23 Mile Road,” authorities said in a news release.

With lights and sirens activated, the deputy continued to pursue the truck driver, who refused to pull over.

Other deputies responded to the area, deploying stop sticks on the roadway, which helped to slow and eventually disabling Medrano’s vehicle.

Two deputies followed him into a parking lot of a local business, where he fled on foot. Deputies apprehended Medrano, who they said continued to resist arrest, kicking, and attempting to pull away from them. Officers from the Shelby Township Police Department arrived on scene and assisted in taking him into custody.

Medrano was transported to and lodged at the Macomb County Jail.
