Ike soccer starts season with lopsided wins

Ellera Jakubowski and Maryn Smith both notched hat tricks for the Eisenhower in a 9-1 win over Grosse Pointe South on April 3, supplement­ing a two-goal effort by senior captain Ava Dukaj and another netter by Sam Losh. Ike improved to 2-0 on the season.

Baseball

GROSSE POINTE NORTH 15, FRASER 5

Adan Czarnik’s two hit, four RBI day helped the Norsemen take Fraser out in five innings. Marcus Giaquinto had an RBI and a single, and Jack Lupo had a single and two RBIs.

STEVENSON 5, TROY ATHENS 0

Ty Jenkins hurled five scoreless innings with three hits and eight strikeouts for the Titans. Jake Leonard had three hits, including a home run.

ROCHESTER 7, UTICA 3

Joe Lount went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Jorge Martinez smacked a double and Brady Johnson drove in one run for Utica.

Logan Bach and Nick Opperman combined to one-hit the Panthers with eight strikeouts in four innings. Nico Fodale and Noah Sheridan each hit bases-loaded doubles. Carson Landino had two hits and Giuseppe Sapienza added two RBI.

GROSSE POINTE NORTH 11, ST. CLAIR 1

The Norsemen got the win in five innings. Adam Czarnik and Hayden Vinyard combined to allow just one run on the mound, which Marcus Giaquinto and Jack Wiegand each had two hits and two RBI.

EISENHOWER 3, ALGONAC 1

The pitching duo of Carson Landino and Drew Baker, each allowing just one hit. Ike’s Brandon Kedrow drove in the game-winning run with a two out single in the third.

ANCHOR BAY 5, FORD II 4

Ty Finkbeiner was the star of the show for the Tars, knocking three hits and driving in all five of Anchor Bay’s runs in the win.
