Two Rotary scholarship winners to be considered for state award
Maria

School and
Kainalu
Yoshida of
King
Kekaulike
High School were chosen from among 10 Maui County Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation $5,000 scholarship recipients to be considered for a statewide $10,000 Rotary scholarship.
Due to COVID-19 social distancing rules, interviews of candidates were conducted remotely with help Stuart Karlan of the Rotary
Club of Kihei Wailea. The 10member Maui interview team and the 10 candidates were able to see and hear one another for a virtual interview via Zoom.
“The Rotary Scholarship interview has shown me that even in hard times, great accomplishments and opportunities are still possible through the determination inside of us,” said Angst. “Although the HRYF interview committee was unable to meet in person as originally planned, the 10 Rotary clubs on Maui persevered to ensure the student’s future was their top priority and I had the great privilege to introduce myself to extraordinary, hardworking citizens.”
The following Maui graduating seniors will be the recipients of the $5,000 HRYF Scholarship Award from their sponsoring Rotary Clubs:
