Herman Rego “Ekolu” C oelho III ofKaunakak­ai, Molokai passed away unexpected­ly atthe age of 36 on Thursday, M ay 14th, 2020.

Ekolu was born on September2­2, 1983, on Molokai to Herman Coelho, Jr. and Doreen Lim a. An avid hunterand waterman, Ekolu was a humble family-man with a loving heart and an innate ability to befriend any and allpeople he cam e across. He enjoyed taking his children, nephews and nieces hunting m a uka orto holoholo on his boat m a kai. He loved his fam ily and enjoyed spending as m uch tim e w ith them .

Ekolu is survived by his parents, Herm an Rego C oelho, Jr, and Doreen Lima-Coelho. His wife and lifelong partner, EstherKele­kolio, his children; D ylan (G abby), Ryan, Tyra, and Hunter-M ykalalong with his beautiful granddaugh­ter, Aiyana. His siblings, Dawn “Shiko” Coelho, Ivan Coelho, and Nakita (John) CoelhoVili­arim o. M any nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, and cousins. Ekolu is preceded in death by his brother, PaulCoelho.

Ekolu was well known for his larger-than-life personalit­y and huge Shaka that shot out of his driver’swindow when passing through town.
