COVID-19 AT A GLANCE

Latest developments:

■ State Department of Health reported 241 new cases as of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, including 190 on Oahu, 28 on Maui, 13 on Hawaii island and one on Kauai. Nine residents were diagnosed outside of the state.

■ There now have been 21,638 cases statewide, including 18,098 on Oahu, 1,900 in Hawaii County, 1,114 in Maui County (986 on Maui, 106 on Lanai and 22 on Molokai) and 146 in Kauai County. A total of 380 cases have been diagnosed out of state.

■ One new death was reported on Oahu. There have now been 289 deaths — 224 on Oahu, 45 on Hawaii island, 17 on Maui, one on Kauai and two out of state.

■ As of Friday, Hawaii was averaging 119 new daily cases, with a test positivity rate of 3.1 percent. Maui County was averaging 19 new daily cases with a positivity rate of 3.2 percent.

■ Maui County will reduce occupancy for restaurants and bars from 50 percent to 30 percent and require closure by 10 p.m. each night, effective 12:01 a.m. today.effective 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 tips:

■ Fever and cough are symptoms.

■ Most people have mild illness and are able to recover at home. If you think you may have been exposed to COVID19, contact your health care provider immediately.

■ Keep track of symptoms.

■ If you have an emergency warning sign (including trouble breathing), get medical attention right away.

■ Some people who are not showing symptoms could have the illness.

Methods for preventing illness include:

■ Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after nose-blowing, coughing or sneezing.

■ If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.

■ Avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

■ Avoid contact with people who are sick; stay home if sick.

■ Wear a face mask in public settings. The mask is intended to protect others.

■ Social distancing: Stay 6 feet apart from others.

■ Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks.
