Kamara on COVID list, could miss playoff opener

-

The New Orleans Saints have placed running back Alvin Kamara, who leads the club in both yards rushing and receiving, on their reserve/ COVID-19 list.

The move means Kamara is unavailable for Sunday’s regular-season finale at Carolina and also could miss the Saints’ first playoff game if New Orleans is unable to move up to the NFC’s top seed.

The NFL’s COVID-19 list is for players who either test positive for the coronavirus or are known to have been exposed to someone who has contracted the virus.

To capture the NFC’s top playoff seed, the Saints would need to beat Carolina and also would need Chicago to beat Green Bay and Seattle to beat San Francisco.

■ PACKERS: Green Bay Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari will miss the rest of the season after the three-time Pro Bowl selection injured his knee in practice Thursday.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur confirmed the severity of the injury Friday. The injury comes six weeks after the standout left tackle agreed to terms on a four-year contract worth up to $105.5 million with a $30 million signing bonus.

Bakhtiari played a major role in helping the Packers (123) win a second straight NFC North title and score a leagueleading 31.6 points per game.

■ RAMS: Los Angeles Rams linebacker Leonard Floyd has gone to a hospital after feeling abdominal pain shortly before practice.

Floyd left the Rams’ training complex for the hospital Friday as a precaution, a team spokesman said.

Floyd ranks eighth in the NFL with 9 1/2 sacks in his strong debut season with the Rams, who host the Cardinals on Sunday. Los Angeles needs a win over Arizona or a loss by the Chicago Bears to make the playoffs.
