Drug arrests made at West Maui Skate Park
Two men were arrested last week in a police undercover drug operation at the West Maui Skate Park, police said.
At about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, officers saw a drug transaction between the men, identified as Wesley Thongtrakul,
24, of Kihei, and
Chad Kerley, 23, of San Diego,
Calif., police said. Approximately 1 ounce of marijuana and $200 in cash were seized, police said.
Thongtrakul was charged with first-degree promotion of a detrimental drug and promoting a controlled substance in a public park.
He was released after posting $2,000 bail.
Kerley was charged with seconddegree promotion of a detrimental drug. He was released after posting $200 bail.
Officers from the Juvenile Crime Prevention Division and Lahaina and Kihei patrol divisions were acting on information about the sale of illegal drugs when they conducted the undercover investigation at the park, police said.
