Drug ar­rests made at West Maui Skate Park

Two men were ar­rested last week in a po­lice un­der­cover drug op­er­a­tion at the West Maui Skate Park, po­lice said.

At about 5:30 p.m. Thurs­day, of­fi­cers saw a drug trans­ac­tion be­tween the men, iden­ti­fied as Wes­ley Thong­trakul,

24, of Ki­hei, and

Chad Ker­ley, 23, of San Diego,

Calif., po­lice said. Ap­prox­i­mately 1 ounce of mar­i­juana and $200 in cash were seized, po­lice said.

Thong­trakul was charged with first-de­gree pro­mo­tion of a detri­men­tal drug and pro­mot­ing a con­trolled sub­stance in a pub­lic park.

He was re­leased af­ter post­ing $2,000 bail.

Ker­ley was charged with sec­ond­de­gree pro­mo­tion of a detri­men­tal drug. He was re­leased af­ter post­ing $200 bail.

Of­fi­cers from the Ju­ve­nile Crime Pre­ven­tion Di­vi­sion and La­haina and Ki­hei pa­trol di­vi­sions were act­ing on in­for­ma­tion about the sale of il­le­gal drugs when they con­ducted the un­der­cover in­ves­ti­ga­tion at the park, po­lice said.
