Fil­ipino cham­ber holds an­nual meet­ing to­day

The Maui Fil­ipino Cham­ber of Com­merce will be hold­ing its an­nual mem­ber­ship meet­ing at 5:30 p.m. to­day at Tante’s Is­land Cui­sine at the Maui Sea­side Ho­tel in Kahu­lui.

The agenda will in­clude elec­tion

of the 2018 board of di­rec­tors along with a vote to amend the by­laws.

The event is open to Maui Fil­ipino Cham­ber of Com­merce mem­bers and guests. The cost is $20 per per­son.

High-surf ad­vi­sory posted

A high-surf ad­vi­sory has been posted for east-fac­ing shores of Maui and Molokai through 6 a.m. Thurs­day, the Na­tional Weather Ser­vice said.

Surf is ex­pected to build to 6 to 10 feet through tonight. A north-north­east swell is gen­er­at­ing the ad­vi­sory-level surf, which should slowly di­min­ish through tonight. It will be fol­lowed by a new north-north­east swell, which is ex­pected to build to ad­vi­sory lev­els again late Thurs­day night and con­tinue through the week­end.

The ad­vi­sory means there will be strong break­ing waves and beach ero­sion and rip cur­rents.

The fore­cast for Maui to­day is windy with oc­ca­sional wind­ward and mauka show­ers and scat­tered show­ers over lee­ward sec­tions. Trades are ex­pected to in­crease to 15 to 30 mph. High tem­per­a­tures are fore­cast for 80 to 85 de­grees and lows 67 to 72 de­grees.

Cen­tral trash route missed

A refuse route in Kahu­lui was missed Tues­day due to a staffing short­age, the county De­part­ment of En­vi­ron­men­tal Man­age­ment Solid Waste Di­vi­sion an­nounced.

The missed route was sched­uled to be picked up to­day.

The af­fected streets in­clude Waikala, Po­haku, Po­hai, Kaimana, Ohaa, Maalo and Puukani streets; Kaao Cir­cle; Aoloa Loop; and Puakala Place; as well as sur­round­ing streets and roads.
