Maui District Health offices to relocate for renovation work
The second phase of renovation work at the Maui District Health Office will begin May 28, according to an announcement from the state Department of Health.
The office is located at the State Office Building at 54 S. High St. in Wailuku.
Work is scheduled for completion Aug. 3.
With the completion of the project’s first phase of work, the department’s Sanitation Program Office is set to return to Room 300 in the state offices on Monday. It had moved temporarily to the department’s Vector Control Building at 641 Mua St. in Kahului.
The Sanitation Program handles public inquiries about food permits and inspections; public swimming pools; tattoo, beauty and massage establishments; milk plants and farms; and mortuaries.
Plans for the renovation project’s second phase call for temporary office relocations beginning May 28. Those include relocating:
≤ Maui District Health Officer Dr. Lorrin Pang and secretary (phone 984-8201) to Room 415 in the State Office Building.
≤ Maui District Health Office administrative staff (9848208) and Developmental Disabilities Council (9848218) to the Vector Control Building.
≤ Vital Records (984-8210) to Room 300 in the office building.
≤ Public Health Nursing clerical staff (984-8260) to the Vector Control Building.
≤ Public health nurses (9848260) to the Wailuku Health Center conference room at 121 Mahalani St. in Wailuku.
It has not been determined when the third phase of renovation work will begin. That will entail the temporary relocation of the Health Department’s Family Health Services and Health Education programs.
“We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the public while improvements to our office continue,” Pang said. “We’re anxious to complete the renovation and are optimistic about remaining on schedule, although the dates listed are always tentative with the possibility of delays.”
