Festival set at Beit Shalom

The Festival of Shavuot, also known as the Festival of Weeks, Festival of First Fruits and The Festival of the Giving of the Law, will begin at 6:40 p.m. Saturday at Beit Shalom in Kihei.

Following the Shabbat Minchah service at 6:40, the evening Ma’ariv service that also heralds the start of the holiday will begin at 7:45. A catered Mitzvah meal and a study session, Tikun Leil Shavuot, will follow the service covering an assortment of topics in the Tanach-Bible.

There will be a 10 a.m. Shavuot service on Sunday.

This will be a traditiona­l festival morning service, which will include the reading of the Adkamut and the Ten Commandmen­ts, if there is a minyan (quorum of 10).

At 10 a.m. Monday, there will be a Shavuot Festival Second Day Service; this will include the chanting of the Book of Ruth as well as a Yizkor memorial service.
