A search continued

Thursday for a 27-year-old man who was reported missing after he went for a hike while on his honeymoon on

Molokai.

Stephen Kramar was last seen Monday morning when he left the Wavecrest Resort in Kaunakakai, police said.

He went into the mountains from within a 4-mile radius of the Wavecrest on Kamehameha V Highway, according to a Facebook post by his wife, Jeffanie Kramar. He said he would be back before 6 p.m. Monday, and she reported last hearing from him at 2:30 p.m. that day when he said, “Travel is slow but I am on the way back.”

Kramer had a water bottle and was wearing Vans shoes, according to his wife’s post.

He was scouting the area to make sure it was safe to take his wife on a hike with him, according to a GoFundMe page started for the couple, who were married Sept. 8.

Police, search-and-rescue teams and volunteers were helping look for Kramer, who is described as 6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

The Fire Department’s Air One helicopter and a police K9 dog have been involved in the search.

“Please help find my husband so he can return safely,” Jeffanie Kramer said in a Facebook post. “That is the best honeymoon I could ever ask for.”

Stephen Kramar’s parents and sister from Washington, D.C., were heading to Molokai, and she was planning to stay to help find her husband, according to the GoFundMe page.
