Four Seasons in Wailea eyes November reopening

Resort to offer new services including onsite medical

-

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea has announced that it will reopen to guests Nov. 20, about a month after the state launches its pre-travel testing program for trans-Pacific travelers.

Like most major resorts, the Four Seasons has been shuttered for several months due to the pandemic and a sharp decline in travel. However, starting Oct. 15, the state will allow trans-Pacific travelers to bypass the mandatory 14-day quarantine if they can offer proof of a negative COVID19 test taken within 72 hours of departure. Some hotels and businesses have been gearing up to reopen, anticipating a return in tourists and customers.

Four Seasons said Tuesday that it planned to resume operations under a new “Safe on Maui” program, which will offer:

● 24/7 onsite medical care from a team of medical professionals led by Dr. Reza Danesh, founder of MODO Mobile Doctor. A board-certified emergency physician who trained at UCLA and was attending physician at CedarsSinai Medical Center, Danesh and his team can administer rapid antigen COVID-19 tests that produce results in 15 minutes, PCR tests upon departure and all basic urgent care medical services, the resort said.

● PS at Los Angeles International Airport. Four Seasons

Resorts across Hawaii are partnering with PS, a private airport experience for commercial flights at LAX. Located separately at the private terminal, PS provides private suites with amenities, dedicated TSA and customs clearance, luxury car service to the aircraft and “back door” access to the aircraft, avoiding the public LAX terminal entirely. Four Seasons Resort Maui includes this one-way service for guests of the resort’s top 21 “Complete Suites,” oceanfront suites that offer a dedicated staff and a heightened level of service, amenities and privacy, according to the resort’s website.

● Virtual classroom, a complimentary service supervised by counselors that allows children to focus on schoolwork while parents enjoy the resort’s amenities. Creative breaks feature characters from the resort such as a leimaker, hula dancer or pastry chef.

● Pre-travel COVID-19 testing resources. The resort will require guests to present proof of a negative COVID19 test upon arrival and has identified labs with convenient testing options nationwide. Four Seasons spokeswoman Crissa Hiranaga said Tuesday that the resort does not assume liability and that each guest is responsible for complying with travel requirements. The resort also does not have the option for guests to quarantine. For more information on testing resources, visit www.fourseasons.com /maui/services-and-amen ities/safe-on-maui/.

● In-room air purification.

Every room and suite has been equipped with individual air purification units, including an air purifier to clean the room every 30 minutes and a HEPA filter device.

“There’s no question that, right now, our guests’ and employees’ biggest concern is safety,” General Manager Marc Bromley said in a news release Tuesday. “So we focused efforts on reimagining safer travel that will both help protect our guests and, ultimately, our employees as well.”
