COVID-19 AT A GLANCE

Latest developmen­ts:

■ State Department of Health reports 39 new cases on Monday, including 31 on Oahu, seven on Hawaii island and two out of state. (One was a previously reported Kauai case recategori­zed to out of state).

■ There now have been 14,068 cases statewide, including 12,494 on Oahu, 1,059 in

Hawaii County, 411 in Maui County (including 19 on Molokai and none on Lanai) and 60 in Kauai County. A total of 44 cases have been diagnosed out of state. Due to updated lab informatio­n, two cases from Oahu were removed and one case from Kauai was recategori­zed to Hawaii residents diagnosed out of state.

■ No new deaths were reported Monday, though the state offered additional details on the two Oahu deaths that occurred over the weekend — one was a female over the age of 80 and another was a man in his 60s. Both had an underlying condition and were hospitaliz­ed at the time of their deaths.

■ There remain 187 deaths officially reported statewide — 150 on Oahu, 18 in Hawaii County, 18 in Maui County and one out of state.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on identifyin­g COVID-19:

■ Fever and cough are symptoms.

■ Most people have mild illness and are able to recover at home. If you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, contact your health care provider immediatel­y.

■ Keep track of symptoms.

■ If you have an emergency warning sign (including trouble breathing), get medical attention right away.

■ Some people who are not showing symptoms could have the illness.

Methods for preventing illness include:

■ Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after noseblowin­g, coughing or sneezing.

■ If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.

■ Avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

■ Avoid contact with people who are sick; stay home if sick.

■ Wear a face mask in public settings. The mask is intended to protect others.

■ Social distancing: Stay 6 feet apart from others.

■ Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertop­s, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks.
