COVID-19 AT A GLANCE

Latest developmen­ts:

■ State Department of Health reported 188 new cases as of 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, including 135 on Oahu, 26 on Maui and 14 on Hawaii island. Thirteen residents were diagnosed outside of the state.

■ There now have been 21,397 cases statewide, including 17,908 on Oahu, 1,887 in Hawaii County, 1,086 in Maui County (958 on Maui, 106 on Lanai and 22 on Molokai) and 145 in Kauai County. A total of 371 cases have been diagnosed out of state. As a result of updated informatio­n, one case from Maui was recategori­zed to out of state.

■ Three new deaths were reported, all Honolulu women between the ages of 50 and 79 who were hospitaliz­ed with underlying conditions. There have now been 288 deaths — 223 on Oahu, 45 on Hawaii island, 17 on Maui, one on Kauai and two out of state.

■ Maui Memorial has opened a second COVID unit as cases grow on Maui and at the hospital, which had 13 COVID-positive patients as of Thursday morning.

■ Harbor Lights cluster grows to at least 30 cases.

■ County will reduce occupancy for restaurant­s and bars from 50 to 30 percent and require closure by 10 p.m. each night, effective 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 tips:

■ Fever and cough are symptoms.

■ Most people have mild illness and are able to recover at home. If you think you may have been exposed to COVID19,

contact your health care provider immediatel­y.

■ Keep track of symptoms.

■ If you have an emergency warning sign (including trouble breathing), get medical attention right away.

■ Some people who are not showing symptoms could have the illness.

Methods for preventing illness include:

■ Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after nose-blowing, coughing or sneezing.

■ If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.

■ Avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

■ Avoid contact with people who are sick; stay home if sick.

■ Wear a face mask in public settings. The mask is intended to protect others.

■ Social distancing: Stay 6 feet apart from others.

■ Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertop­s, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks.
