Move to new county service center planned

-

The Maui County Service Center at Maui Mall will close in phases on Thursday and Friday as employees relocate to the new facility at 110 ‘Ala‘ihi Street in Kahului, the county announced.

The last day for public service for the Department of Finance Real Property Assessment and Treasury divisions at the mall will be Thursday, while the final day for the Division of Motor Vehicles & Licensing will be Friday.

The Assessment and Treasury divisions will reopen Tuesday at the new facility. The Treasury Division will accept over-the-counter payments for the first time for water and solid waste services and will continue to accept payments for real property taxes.

While the Treasury Division will accept over-the-counter credit and debit card payments, there will be a 2.35 percent convenience fee for real property tax payments by credit card and a flat rate of $3.95 for debit card payments.

The DMVL will open for customer service at the new facility Jan. 25 due to extensive equipment and information technology relocation and testing work.

Office hours for all three divisions will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on holidays.

Customers should renew their motor vehicle registration online at mauicounty.gov or at kiosks located at all Maui Safeway stores and in the lobby of the Kalana O Maui county building in Wailuku.

DMVL satellite offices in Kihei, Lahaina, Hana and Molokai will be open for customer service. The Pukalani office remains closed due to ongoing renovation of the Hannibal Tavares Center.
