Maui Mompreneur event returns to feature local businesses

-

About 60 local vendors from Maui, Oahu and Hawaii island will showcase their products in the 7th Maui Mompreneur Winter Event, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5 at the Maui Beach Hotel.

“There will be handmade crafts, jewelry, baked goods, artisans and much more,” event co-founder Luana HueSingAmmasi said in a news release Wednesday. “We feature a few select vendors in each specialty so they can thrive, and shoppers don’t feel overwhelmed.”

HueSing-Ammasi and Jovina Ka‘eo are the two “mompreneurs” behind the event. Both longtime vendors themselves, they launched their own event in 2012, striving to value local brands, support the island and showcase quality local products, the news release said. Spread out in a spacious, air-conditioned ballroom, the event features free parking and free admission.

Each day will feature about 30 vendors.

“A lot of our vendors and customers, for like the whole year, have been wondering, ‘When, when, when?!’ They’ve been really excited for the event to happen again,” Ka‘eo said. “Some vendors have side gigs, but for others, this is their livelihood, so the event is really important to support them and Maui.”

HueSing-Ammasi said that the hotel has the indoor space ready for vendors and provides tables and chairs. Vendors don’t need to have a tent or haul equipment.

The Maui Mompreneur also sponsors a nonprofit at every event. This year, Make-A-Wish Hawaii will have a table at the event where people are welcome to donate a toy or gift to support the start of Maui’s first Toy Closet for keiki.

Masks are required, and sanitizing stations will be provided.
