Cardi B mandated to perform by court

NEW YORK — Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B spoke to girls in a police mentorship program Friday as part of what she says has been an eye-opening and emotional week performing court-mandated community service for her role in a pair of brawls at New York City strip clubs in 2018.

The 30-year-old “Bodak Yellow” singer shared what the NYPD said was “her rags to riches story” at the department’s “Girls Talk” event at the police training academy in Queens.

She danced with teens and posed for photos.

Cardi B’s plea deal requires her to perform 15 days of community service by March 1 to avoid a 15day jail sentence.

Arrest warrant for Kodak Black issued

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Court records show a Florida judge has issued an arrest warrant for rapper Kodak Black for failing a drug test while on bail for a drug charge.

The warrant was issued Thursday after Black did not appear for a scheduled drug test in early February and then days later submitted a sample that tested positive for fentanyl.

Broward County Judge Barbara Duffy issued the warrant and wrote that the rapper has violated the conditions of his pretrial release for an oxycodone trafficking charge from July.

Black has pleaded not guilty to the trafficking charge.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — “Everything Everywhere All at Once” solidified its status as the frontrunner for the best picture Oscar by taking the top prize at the Producers Guild of America Awards.

The film’s producers won best theatrical motion picture at the Saturday night ceremony in Beverly Hills, California.

The top PGA winner has gone on to win the Oscar for best picture for four of the past five years.

Tom Cruise was honored at the show for his nearly 30-year career as a producer.

‘Cocaine Bear’ gets high with $23.1M

NEW YORK — Sunday studio estimates say the gonzo R-rated horror comedy “Cocaine Bear” sniffed up $23.1 million in its opening weekend, while Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” shrank unusually quickly in its second weekend. “Quantumania” was still No. 1 with an estimated $32.2 million in ticket sales in U.S. and Canadian theaters.

But the “Ant-Man” sequel was hit by some of the worst reviews and audience scores of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and dropped a steep 69.7 percent in its second weekend.

The ’70s-set Christian drama “Jesus Revolution” also debuted strongly, launching with $15.5 million.

The SAG Awards, streaming Sunday

Last year, the top winners at the Screen Actors Guild Awards all corresponded exactly with the Academy Awards winners.

Will Sunday’s SAGs offer the same preview? The 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern Sunday and be streamed live on Netflix’s YouTube page.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” come in with a co-leading five nominations.

With both supporting categories seemingly sown up by Angela Bassett and Ke Huy Quan, Sunday’s SAG Award could offer the most clarity in the lead acting awards.
