Maui High girls collect season-opening win over Maui Prep

The Maui High School girls tennis team opened defense of its Maui Interschol­astic League championsh­ip with a 4-1 victory over Maui Prep on Friday afternoon at the Kapalua Tennis Garden.

Sophia Kato, Taliah Cabatu and Brianna Domingo earned singles victories, and Jordyn Luna and Julia Ramirez won at No. 1 doubles for the Sabers.

In the boys match, Maui Prep downed Maui High 3-2.

Also earning a victory on Day 1 of the 2023 MIL season was defending boys team champion Baldwin. The Bears boys and girls squads were credited with 5-0 default victories over King Kekaulike.
