Golf Notes: Little River Has a New Handicap Champion

- The Little River Men’s Club has a new Handicap Champion

The Little River Men’s Club has a new 2021 Handicap Champion and it is none other than golf Supervisor Terry Stratton. The match for the Handicap Champion was between Terry and Jason Carmichael and was played last Sunday, September 25th. It was a very close match indeed with Terry edging out Jason one up. Congratulations on the win Terry and also to you Jason for playing yourself into the Championship round.

The individual scores for the recent Abalone Golf Tournament both net and gross are now posted on the Pro Shop bulletin board for public consumption. Let’s reveal the players whose score placed them in the top ten net and gross-out of 75 players. The top net score went to Jack Delore who shot a Saturday 69 and a Sunday 65. Second place went to Bo Strong shooting a 68/70. Third place was awarded to our Handicap Champion runner-up Jason Carmichael. Marshall Carr won fourth place with a 72/68 while

David Coddington took fifth shooting 70/69. Remember net is your gross score minus handicap so if your handicap is 10 and you shoot an 80 your net is 70. Sixth place went to Bruce Berry with a 73/67. Seventh place was scored by Grant Pardini 72/68, eighth taken by Everette Taylor 71/69, ninth by Terry Stratton 70/72, and tenth by Dewey Turner 71/71.

The top gross score was won by Seth Goeken 72/75. Seth was also the captain of the Abalone winning team. Grant Pardini placed second with a 78/74, Dewey Turner took third shooting 77/77 and Kevin Chuck Allegrini came in fourth with an 80/75. Placing fifth in the gross top ten was Eric Shellman posting a 72/84, sixth was Alex Goeken with a 74/83, 7th spot was won by Jack Delore shooting an 81/77, eighth by Bo Strong finishing with a 78/80, the ninth-place was taken by Marshall Carr 82/79 and the tenth spot was occupied by none other than golf supervisor Terry Stratton. A good two day’s work guys. Congratulations.

Dave Hautala was recently expressing an observation about age and golf….humorous in a sense. As an older golfer, you sometimes have a

breakthrough, after all these years you change something in your swing and wow twenty more yards on your drive. Then the next time you play you can’t remember what you did. Aagggg! I have had similar experiences. Dave has started to write down the changes. Good idea Dave.

Coming right up Sunday, October 3rd is the famed Freddie Campbell Scramble. A sign-up sheet is on the Pro Shop board. You must be a member of the Men’s or Woman’ Club to participate. Write it down.
