Tandy’s got game when it comes to winning roles
Actress Meagan Tandy has a message for Warriors fans hating on LeBron James in the wake of the NBA Finals: “Let’s all just get along.”
A native of Fremont and passionate sports fan, Tandy was “so bummed” when the Warriors lost to James and the Cleveland Cavaliers last month. On the other hand, she’s a recurring guest on “Survivor’s Remorse,” a basketball comedy produced by James. So she feels the need to keep the peace.
“I would just tell Warriors supporters that he’s a really nice, very professional guy with a great sense of humor,” she says. “And he’s also my boss, so there’s that.”
On “Survivor’s Remorse,” which launches its third season on Sunday (10 p.m., Starz), Tandy, 31, plays Allison Pierce, the latest girlfriend of Cam Calloway (Jessie Usher), a star point guard known for having his quick flings.
“She’s a normal girl, and she’s gotten him to settle down a bit,” Tandy says of the character. Fremont native Meagan Tandy is holding down roles on the TV shows “Survivor’s work on “UnReal,” the critically lauded Lifetime drama about the behindthe-scenes shenanigans of a fictional “Bachelor”-like dating show. On “UnReal,” she plays Chantal, one of the women vying for the heart of Darius Hill (B.J. Britt).
“She’s a Southern debutante who has come on the show after the death of her fiance,” Tandy says. “She’s trying to remain proper and elegant, and find her soul mate. But all sorts of drama is coming.”
This year is shaping up to be a coming-out party for Tandy, who also has had a key role on MTV’s “Teen Wolf.” A former Miss California, she showed an affinity for the camera at an early age.
“When I was a kid, I’d create my own movies at home,” she says. “I’d record myself doing a scene, then stop the camera, change my clothes and do a scene as another character. It sounds silly, but I just loved to tell stories.”
