Trump’s remarks don’t make rational sense
Donald Trump now claims he was being sarcastic with his comments about Russia hacking and releasing Hillary Clinton’s emails. This is belied by his extended defense of the comments in the news conference itself. Even if we take him at his word, sarcasm usually has a point. If he believes there is information in the emails that damages U.S. national security, why would he implore Russia to release it? If he believes there is no information in the emails that damages U.S. national security, why would he even discuss the emails? Sarcastic or not, there is no context in which his exhortation makes rational sense, especially from someone seeking the U.S. presidency.
