California enhances environmental status
The California Legislature took a big step forward in keeping the state a leader on climate change policy Tuesday by passing SB 32 out of the Assembly and Wednesday with final passage of SB 32’s companion bill, AB 197, authored by Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia. However, we are not over the finish line yet, and need to encourage our leaders in the Senate and the Assembly to get SB 32 to the governor’s desk as well. As the Mercury News (Editorial, Aug. 22) correctly highlights, these bills will continue the groundbreaking efforts by California to reduce harmful greenhouse gas pollution and will continue to sustain and even grow our thriving clean economy here in Silicon Valley.
