SAN BRUNO — A 22year-old San Francisco woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder after she allegedly drove over a department store employee while trying to flee with stolen items, according to San Bruno police.

Shaquett Thompson, 22, of San Francisco, was also arrested on suspicion of robbery and hit and run, according to police.

Police say Thompson shoplifted several items Wednesday just before 1:15 p.m. from the JCPenney department store at the Shops at Tanforan mall on El Camino Real. A female loss prevention officer for JCPenney followed Thompson into the parking lot and was thrown to the ground during an altercation.

Thompson then got into a minivan and drove towards the loss prevention officer while fleeing, running over both of the employee’s arms, according to Sgt. Ryan Johansen.

“We have evidence that she deliberately swerved to hit” the store employee, Johansen said.

During Thompson’s attempt to drive away she crashed into multiple parked vehicles. Thompson then crashed into a steel girder, causing the minivan to become disabled.

Thompson took off on foot and was located about a quarter-mile away where she was arrested by San Bruno police, Johan- sen said.

The JC Penney employee was taken to a local hospital for treatment for injuries

that were major but not considered life threatening. The employee was expected to be released from the hospital Thursday.
