Spurs 102, Kings 94: Kawhi Leonard scored 30 points and San Antonio spoiled the regular season opener at Sacramento’s new downtown arena. LaMarcus Aldridge added 16 points as the Spurs clamped down on defense in the second half led by Leonard’s strong play to win their second straight game to open the season. Blazers 106: Blake Griffin had 27 points and 13 rebounds and Los Angeles opened the season Thursday night with a victory over Portland. It was a contentiou­s game that had fans booing the officials after two flagrant fouls on Portland players in the fourth quarter. Chris Paul hit a 3-pointer that gave the Clippers a 102-90 lead with 4:07 left and the crowd headed for the exits. Hawks 114, Wizards 99: Dwight Howard dominated the boards in his Atlanta debut, Paul Millsap scored 28 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. ignited the new-look Hawks to a victory over Washington in their season opener. Bulls 105, Celtics 99: Dwyane Wade scored 22 points in a triumphant Chicago debut, Jimmy Butler had 24 and the Bulls won their season opener. Wade nailed a 3 from the corner in the final minute to make it a five-point game. Taj Gibson added 18 points and 10 rebounds, and the new-look Bulls got off to a winning start after missing the playoffs last season for the first time since 2008. Isaiah Thomas led Boston with 25 points.

76ers: The Philadelph­ia 76ers held a teammeetin­g Thursday and may take action in the wake of the organizati­on’s decision to cancel the national anthem performanc­e by a singer wearing a “We Matter” jersey. Sevyn Streeter said she was told by the team she could not perform the anthem before Wednesday night’s season opener because of the slogan.
