Titans’ offense rolls up 494 yards, thumps Jags

Marcus Mariota threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns to end his home struggles and the Tennessee Titans had their highest point total of the season in a 36-22 victory over the Jacksonvil­le Jaguars on Thursday night.

Since the start of the 2014 season, the Titans’ home record is 3-0 against the Jaguars and 1-17 against everybody else. The Titans (4-4) are 3-8 in home games started by Mariota, a second-year pro out of Oregon.

“It was important,” Mariota said. “To give our fans an opportunit­y to see how this team can play, it was huge. Hopefully this will build a foundation for the rest of the year and give the fans what they really want.”

Mariota was 18 of 22 for 270 yards and had a 148.1 passer rating, the secondhigh­est of his career. DeMarco Murray ran for 123 yards and a touchdown.

The Titans gained a season-high 494 total yards and won for the third time in four games.

Blake Bortles threw three touchdown passes for Jacksonvil­le (2-5) and went 33 of 54 for 337 yards, but much of his production came with the game out of reach.

Dolphins: Jarvis Landry will take a hit in the wallet for his block that injured Buffalo Bills safety Aaron Williams. The Miami Dolphins receiver was fined $24,309 for an illegal crackback block, two people familiar with the situation. The people confirmed the fine to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the NFL had not yet announced the fine.

Bills: The father of Williams says his son intends to wait until the offseason to determine whether to continue playing after sustaining his latest neck injury. Anthony Williams told The Associated Press by phone Thursday that while the topic of retirement has yet to be discussed, he intends to involve his entire family in a discussion regarding his son’s future. “We’ll wait to talk about that at the end of the season as a family and we’ll pray about it, and make the best decision that’s right for him,” Williams said.

Seahawks: Quarterbac­k Russell Wilson expects to play Sunday against New Orleans despite a pectoral injury suffered last Sunday night in a tie with Arizona. Wilson said Thursday that he’s being cautious with the injury and is thankful he has a fewmoreday­sof treatment and recovery before playing against the Saints.

Broncos: C.J. Anderson was bracing for a prolonged recovery as he prepared to undergo surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee late Thursday. Before heading into the operating room in Northern California, the Cal product and Denver’s leading rusher tweeted thanks to his fans for their prayers and said, “We will not know til after the procedure if I am done for the season or if I can come back to help my team to (hash)51.”

Washington: Cornerback Josh Norman and tight end JordanReed­were cleared to fly with the team to London for its game against the Cincinnati­Bengals afterdeali­ng with concussion­s. Coach Jay Gruden said it still had not been determined­whether eitherNorm­an or Reed— two of Washington’s most vital players — would be able to play on Sunday.

Jurisprude­nce: A Nevada judge sentenced former NFL star Darren Sharper to as many as eight years in prison for attempted sexual assault in Las Vegas as part of a four-state plea deal that could keep him behind bars for nearly two decades. Sharper was ordered to serve the Nevada sentence concurrent­ly with an 18year sentence he has already begun on state and federal charges in Louisiana.
