Mel Gibson may direct the next ‘Suicide Squad’ film

-

Mel Gibson is in talks to direct the next “Suicide Squad” movie.

Make your own “crazy criminals” joke and we’ll move on. Gibson is being courted by Warner Bros., according to the Hollywood Reporter.

David Ayer handled the first one, which did well at the box office but was mostly frowned upon by critics.

The studio is also looking at other directors, including Daniel Espinosa.

“Suicide Squad” featured Margot Robbie, Will Smith and Jared Leto and told the tale of the government banding a team of villains together to fight crime in return for lighter prison sentences.

Gibson was on the outs for several years in Hollywood, thanks to a drunken-driving arrest, anti-Semitic remarks, and allegations of abuse.

But his latest film, “Hacksaw Ridge,” is up for six Oscars, including best picture and best director for Gibson.
