Republicans never gave Obama a honeymoon

I have to thank Marie Zahn (Letters, Feb. 15) for making me laugh when she wrote: “In all fairness, let’s give President Trump the same courtesy extended to other presidents, and let him fulfill his campaign promises.” Did she forget about Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell famously saying, “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”
