Defense of Brown’s Delta plan falls short
Dan Gordon’s defense of the Gov. Jerry Brown’s megatunnels “water fix” misses on the sustainability point (“The WaterFix twin tunnel plan will secure our water supply,” Opinion, July 19). Spending billions to divert and export more water from the Sacramento- San Joaquin Delta is misguided for important environmental and financial reasons. Pressure by corporate export agriculture in the Central Valley and never ending sprawl in Los Angeles are reasons the megatunnels are textbook examples of unsustainability. Better to maintain existing infrastructure than building unnecessary and unsustainable superstructure. — Les Kishler, Los Gatos
