Don’t mandate health care coverage for all
What struck me most about your hit piece on President Trump (Editorial, Sept. 5) was the sentence: “The end result will be higher premiums and medical costs for all Americans.”
I do not have Obamacare, most thankfully, so Trump’s reduction of its marketing effort will not result in higher costs to me. That statement alone caused me to question the validity of the rest of your editorial.
Show me one article in our Constitution that allows the federal government to provide and mandate medical assistance to all citizens.
There is no such thing. And, regarding costs, I suggest you check the recent increase in cost of more than 100 percent in premiums in Arizona under the current Obama regulations.
While I approve of the effort to offer some assistance to some needy Americans, I do not believe it is the federal government’s responsibility to make it mandatory that all citizens must have insurance; that is a personal matter, not one that should be forced upon us by law.
