“The Foreigner” (R): A London businessma­n is forced to face his violent past when his teenage daughter is taken from him. With Jackie Chan, Pierce Brosnan and Ray Fearon. Directed by Martin Campbell.

“Happy Death Day” (PG13):

In a horror twist on “Groundhog Day,” a college student experience­s her death over and over again until she unmasks her murderer. With Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard and Ruby Modine. Directed by Christophe­r Landon.

“The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)” (Unrated):

Siblings in an estranged family gather in New York for an event celebratin­g the artistic work of their father. With Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and Dustin Hoffman. Written and directed by Noah Baumbach. Opens in limited theatrical release, and debuts on Netflix.

“So B. It” (PG-13):

A 12-year-old girl who lives with her mentally disabled mother travels across the country to learn about their past. With Talitha Bateman, Alfre Woodard and Cloris Leachman. Adapted from a novel by SarahWeeks. Directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal. In limited release.

“Take EveryWave — The Life of Laird Hamilton” (Unrated):

Documentar­y on the surfing legend. With Laird Hamilton and Gabrielle Reece. Directed by Rory Kennedy. In limited release.

EXPANDING “Loving Vincent” (PG-13):

Van Gogh-inspired animation takes the spotlight in this feature on Vincent Van Gogh. With voices of Robert Gulaczyk, Douglas Booth and Chris O’Dowd. Directed by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman.
