Are Serena and hubby getting paid for their honeymoon?
Now that they are married, Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are believed to have a combined worth of $150million. Yet, the couple may still be looking for ways to earn a few more dollars — by going on their honeymoon in the Bahamas.
A report on TMZ.com suggests that the tennis champion and her Reddit co-founder husband could be getting a free stay at the $35,000-per-week luxury Kamalame Cay private island resort in the Bahamas. The report furthermore suggests that they also could be getting paid to shill for the popular travel website Booking. com.
The couple, who are parents of new baby daughter Alexis Olympia, wed in November in a blockbuster, star- studded wedding in New Orleans. That wedding, by the way, was photographed by Vogue magazine, which published a series of glamorous shots of Williams in her three different gowns and of celebrity guests like Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian. While in the Bahamas, the honeymooners are sharing more than the usual social media photos of their vacation.
Both Williams and Ohanian, and Booking.com, have posted an array of images that look professionally shot and are definitely promotional. TMZ added that the couple willingly participated in a photo shoot in connection with Booking.com. The travel website posted a photo of the couple together on the balcony of their honeymoon villa at the Kamalame Cay island resort and captioned it: “Wishing @serenawilliams a very happy honeymoon in this Caribbean hideaway.” Meanwhile, Williams offered her 7.1 million Instagram fans an inside look at what she described as Alexis’ “perfect honeymoon villa.” This look comes in the form of a brief video, which was shot by Ohanian’s droneequipped camera. It shows Williams on the balcony of a sprawling beachside lodge, nestled among palm trees and set against a postcard-worthy tropical sunset.
Another post shows Williams, in a still photo, taking a “breath of fresh air.” She’s again on the balcony, this time with the beach in the background and her hair illuminated by a halo of light from the setting sun. Both the video and the photo are captioned with a hashtag that gives a shout- out to Booking.com. As of Wednesday morning, the video and photo had received a combined 360,000 views.
