Report » Giants brass meets with Stanton’s agents

The Giants’ high-profile pursuit for Giancarlo Stanton progressed to a meeting in Los Angeles between teamexecut­ives and the Miami Marlins sluggers’ representa­tives, according to various reports Thursday night.

SiriusXM’s Craig Mish, first to report the meeting, later tweeted that Brian Sabean, Bobby Evans and Bruce Bochy were in attendance.

The 28- year- old right fielder, who hit .281 with 59 home runs this season, has a no-trade clause so hemust approve any trade.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, a potential deal being discussed would send Stanton to the Giants for second baseman Joe Panik, righthande­d pitcher Tyler Beede and outfielder Chris Shaw if San Francisco is willing to pay $250 million of the $295 million still on Stanton’s contract.

Stanford won the national title in 2011 and is back in the Final Four for the first time since 2014.

SOUNDERS HEADED TO MLS CUP » Victor Rodriguez scored on a give- and- go with Will Bruin in the 22nd minute, Clint Dempsey added his third goal of the playoffs early in the second half, and the Seattle Sounders advanced to the MLS Cup final with a 3- 0 win over the Houston Dynamo.

The defending champion Sounders advanced 5- 0 on aggregate to face Toronto in the final and get the opportunit­y to become the first repeat MLS Cup champions since the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2011-12 — and on the same field Seattle won its first title a year ago. The Sounders and Toronto played to a 0- 0 draw in the 2016 final before Seattle won on penalty kicks.

The Sounders took any nerves out of the secondleg with Houston early befpore a crowd of 45,298 at CenturyLin­k Field.
