Pelosi to be judge for RuPaul’s drag-queen show
In an apparent move to rebuff Donald Trump’s agenda, top House Democrat Nancy Pelosi seems to have taken a page from the president’s method of building his popularity with the American public.
The congresswoman is turning to reality TV, agreeing to appear as a guest judge on RuPaul’s drag- queen competition show “Drag Race All Stars,” The Washington Post reported.
Pelosi will join other celebrity judges, including actress- singer Kristin Chenoweth, Tituss Burgess of “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” former Spice Girl Emma Bunton and “High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens, on the VH1 show, which begins Jan. 25.
Of course, appearing on this particular reality TV show is a very San Francisco choice. And, as a representative for Pelosi told the Post, the congresswoman has been a longtime supporter of LGBTQ rights. Her district includes San Francisco.
The House minority leader hopes that going on RuPaul’s show will be away to demonstrate solidarity with the LGBTQ community, especially as Trump’s Justice Department rolls back regulations that protect gay and transgender people from discrimina- tion in the workplace, The Hill reported. Trump also has attempted to block transgender troops from enrolling in the military.
“Drag Race” encourages contestants and viewers to be true to themselves. That’s a message that Pelosi supports, according to her spokesperson, who added that the congresswoman is a big fan of the showand had a “fabulous” time taping her appearance.
