Man suspected of raping 7-year-old

HALF MOON BAY » A 36-year-old San Joseman has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 7-year- old relative, authoritie­s said.

Alfonso Aguilar- Jaimes is accused of raping the female victimon two different occasions in Half Moon Bay, said Detective Rosemerry Blankswade of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

After a “thorough investigat­ion,” the San Jose Police Department, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office teamed up to arrest Aguilar-Jaimes in Modesto on Tuesday as he was potentiall­y trying to flee to Mexico, Blankswade said.

Aguilar- Jaimes was booked into San Mateo County jail on sexual assault charges, including sodomy of a 7-year- old and assault with intent to commit rape, Blankswade said.

Additional details about the case, including when the alleged crimes occurred and who reported them to authoritie­s, were not immediatel­y available.
