Q The worst interchange in the Bay Area? It’s 101-880 in San Jose hands down.

Nancy Paxton, I. N., Kevin I. and many more A As voted on by Roadshow readers, here are the top 10 interchanges we rank as the most challenging. The 101-880 area is our winner? It could cost $1 billion to upgrade this. Q No. 2 — Interstate 580 to 680. Long lines of cars playing nice and 10 percent merging at the last second. — David Jones, Gilroy A Alameda County has begun studies to redo this link in a few years. Q No. 3 — Gilman Street at I-80 in Richmond. Crazy. — Fred Hayes, Berkeley A Roundabouts are coming, and most traffic signals will be removed. Construction could begin late next year. Q No 4 — Highway 237 at Mathilda Avenue in Sunnyvale. Far too many merge points with short merging lanes to boot. I despise going through here. — Bryce Santiago, San Jose A Design work is done. Up next is construction in a few more years. Q No. 5 — Highway 101 south to Highway 87. They need more than one lane for this exit. — Bill Halverson, San Jose A If the lawsuit over Santa Clara County’s Measure B sales tax is thrown out, work may begin on a two-lane exit. Q No. 6 — Highway 4 at I-680 in Concord is the worst in the Bay Area. Barbara Chambers A The state is expected to approve funding next month and construction could begin by the end of 2018 to lengthen the short weaving spaces. Q No. 7 — Highway 101 toHighway 25 west of Hollister. Traffic backs onto 101 trying to get to 25. — Mary F., Hollister A Some day that nasty left turn will be elim- inated, but no one is certain when. Q No. 8 — Highway 85 to I-280. A two lane ramp separating traffic onto Foothill Expressway would really make my day. — GlennMatthews, San Jose A Studies have been completed, but this is another interchange needing money from Measure B. Q No. 9 — 1- 680-Highway 84 in Alameda County. — Randy Tran, Livermore A Environmental reports are almost done, this is a work in progress. Q No. 10 — 101 to 237. It’s so close to the El Camino Real off-ramp that it’s a real problem. — LarryHayes, Cupertino A Again depends on money from Measure B.
