SANJOSE » Aman has been arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing his father and seriously wounding his mother at a Senter Road home last weekend, according to San Jose police.

Duong Luu, 25, of San Jose, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of murder in death of his father, 70-yearold Thao Quoc Luu, and the attempted murder in the shooting of his 68-year- old mother, police said.

A second suspect, 27-year- old Madison Muong, was also arrested on the same offenses. Both are being held without bail in the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Of ficers were called at 7: 38 p. m. Sunday to the Spanish Cove Mobile Home Park on Senter Road north of Umbarger Road for reports of a shooting, police said. They arrived to find Thao Luu and his wife suffering from gunshot wounds, and the husband died at the scene.

The wife was rushed to the hospital with lifethreatening injuries, police said.

A law- enforcement source said that a murdersuicide was explored as a possible motive before the investigation revealed suspicion of Duong Luu, the couple’s son.

Additional details were not immediately available. Police said they did not publicize the shooting on Sunday, which would have been routine in a homicide case, because the crime scene initially appeared to resemble a murder-suicide scene with the husband as the shooter, which would have made him a suicide victim and his wife an assault victim.

Suicides are not typically publicized by police or this news organization. But the investigation eventually identified Duong Luu as a suspect and the case was formally declared a homicide.

The shooting marked San Jose’s 11th homicide of the year, and the fifth in less than three weeks after the city went three months without a slaying. There were 13 homicides recorded at this point in 2017.
