If you replaced your iPhone battery last year and paid full price, Apple is offering you $50 back.

Apple, which admitted last year that it slowed down older iPhones to keep them from unexpected shutdowns because of battery issues, in late December announced it was offering a discount on replacing batteries in out- of-warranty phones. The discount applied to batteries for iPhone 6 models and later.

The company lowered the price of replacement batteries from $79 to $29 starting Dec. 28. This week Apple announced it is offering $50 refunds to those who paid $79 to replace batteries from Jan. 1 to Dec. 28 last year. Anybody who got a battery replaced at an authorized Apple service location is eligible for the refund.

Apple CEO Tim Cook apologized over the company’s slowing down of older iPhones, which was revealed by companies that benchmark iPhone performance. The practice prompted questions from lawmakers, government-agency investigations, lawsuits and more. Now, in iOS 11.3, Apple has included a way to check iPhone battery

health and turn off the throttling, as Cook said the company would do.

Those who are eligible for the refund should be receiving an email from Apple between now and July 27 that will tell them how to get their money, and people who don’t get an email by Aug. 1 should contact the company.
