Avulgar commentmade by Samantha Bee about Ivanka Trump on her latenight TV show has outraged critics comparing her to Roseanne Barr and wondering why her show hasn’t been canceled. The TBShost apologizedfor the remark later Thursday.

During the latest installment of “Full Frontal” on TBS, Bee expressed her outrage that U.S. immigration authorities are separating undocumented children and their parents at the border and that the Trump administration has lost track of hundreds of these children and had them placed in foster care.

Meanwhile, Bee pointed out, President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, posted an “oblivious tweet” last Sunday that included a photo of herself with her son.

That post prompted Bee to say, “You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless (c-word).”

Bee’s use of the C-word drew immediate criticism, especially among thosewho claim there exists a double standard when it comes to what liberals and conservatives can get away with.

Conservative blogger Erick Erickson wondered if Bee will receive the same treatment as Barr, whose show was canceled by ABC this week after she posted a racist tweet about former President Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. Erickson went on to urge his followers to “Pay attention to how the media handles the Samantha Bee story after the Roseanne Barr story,” before adding: “All the progressives in my timeline tellingme theRoseanne situation and Samantha Bee situation are not comparable will, I’m sure, be fine when Trump supporters start calling Clinton, Warren, Pelosi, etc. the same as what Samantha Bee called Ivanka Trump.”

In a statement to HuffPost, she said: “I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”
