Mountain View office, hotel complex underway after land deal
MOUNTAIN VIEW » A big office and hotel complex is under construction in Mountain View, now that the project’s developer has full ownership of the site and has landed a hefty mortgage to bankroll the construction.
Perched near the interchange of U.S. 101 and State Route 85, the Ameswell development will offer a sleek new office building and a hotel with hundreds of rooms once it’s completed.
Acting through an affiliate, Broadreach Capital Partners — an active developer in Mountain View and San Francisco — paid $9 million to the state’s Department of Transportation, or Caltrans, on June 15 to buy the land for the project, Santa Clara County property records show.
That was followed up a week later on June 22with a $70million construction loan that the Broadreach affiliate, MV 101 Land Fee, obtained from Wells Fargo.
Broadreach is building a 218,000-squarefoot office building that will rise five stories. The development also will include a 255room hotel, according to a website created for the project, which is dubbed Ameswell. It’s just south of the NASA Ames Research
Center, the long-time Bay Area location of the nation’s space and aeronautics agency.
“This unique development will provide both a worldclass work environment and unparalleled lodging and dining,” according to a case study that Broadreach Capital posted on its site regarding the Ameswell project.
The development could be available for office tenants or hotel guests as soonas sometime in 2019.
“Ameswell is a mixeduse development project awarded to Broadreach by the Mountain View City Council in 2016 after a highly competitive selection process,” Broadreach stated. The company’s principal executives didn’t immediately respond to requests for a comment about the development and its prospects.
The project is a few miles away from the Googleplex Mountain View headquarters and other locations where the Alphabet-owned search giant has been busy expanding its operations and footprint in that part of Silicon Valley.
As a result of that activity, it’s entirely possible that the project could soon land a tenant. Googlehas already leased offices from Broadreach in a new office building a few miles away.
The triangle-shaped development location is bounded on the west by Highway 85, on the north by U.S. 101 and on the east by Moffett Boulevard, and has an official address of 750 Moffett Blvd. Broadreach assembled parcels to create the project site.
Broadreach hopes that business and leisure travelers, aswell as local residents, will be drawn to the project’s amenities.
“A modern luxury hotel boasting a destination restaurant, 5,300 square feet of event space, a swimming pool and beer garden” will be among the features of Ameswell, the Broadreach site stated.
