Al­liance Credit Union was cre­ated in 1952 by a small group of vi­sion­ary Gen­eral Elec­tric em­ploy­ees with the idea of “peo­ple help­ing peo­ple.” Al­liance Credit Union has grown as a mem­ber-owned, fi­nan­cial co­op­er­a­tive to now serve more than 40,000 mem­bers in six coun­ties in­clud­ing Santa Clara, San Ma­teo and Alameda coun­ties in North­ern Cal­i­for­nia and New Hanover, Pen­der and Brunswick coun­ties in North Carolina. They also serve ap­prox­i­mately 400 com­mu­nity busi­ness part­ners through­out both states by of­fer­ing ex­clu­sive ben­e­fits to their em­ploy­ees.

Meri­west Credit Union was orig­i­nally es­tab­lished in 1961 as the IBM San Jose Em­ploy­ees Fed­eral Credit Union. Then in 1975, the of­fi­cial name changed to Pa­cific IBM Em­ploy­ees Fed­eral Credit Union. In 1999 Pa­cific IBM be­came Meri­west Credit Union. To­day, the amaz­ing ben­e­fits once only avail­able to em­ploy­ees and fam­i­lies em­ployed by IBM are now avail­able to any­one who lives or works in the greater Bay Area of North­ern Cal­i­for­nia or in Tuc­son, Ari­zona.

Patelco Credit Union was cre­ated back in 1936, with only $500 in as­sets by a few em­ploy­ees from Pa­cific Tele­phone and Tele­graph Com­pany (now know as AT&T). Since then, Patelco Credit Union has grown to be­come a full ser­vice, not-for-profit fi­nan­cial co­op­er­a­tive ded­i­cated to help­ing its mem­bers and com­mu­ni­ties to pros­per. Stan­ford Fed­eral Credit Union was cre­ated by a group of Stan­ford em­ploy­ees back in 1959 and has grown into a $2.4 bil­lion, full-ser­vice fi­nan­cial in­sti­tu­tion owned and op­er­ated by over 65,000 mem­bers of the Stan­ford com­mu­nity. Stan­ford Fed­eral Credit Union pri­mar­ily serves the bank­ing needs of in­di­vid­u­als and fam­i­lies who com­prise the Stan­ford com­mu­nity, and the em­ploy­ees and fam­ily mem­bers of over 100 se­lect em­ployer groups through­out the Bay Area. How­ever, they do al­low oth­ers to join who are in­ter­ested in be­ing part of a lo­cal­ly­owned co­op­er­a­tive with friendly, pro­fes­sional per­sonal ser­vice and con­ve­nient world­wide ac­cess.

UN­CLE Credit Union was started back in 1957 by just four em­ploy­ees of the Univer­sity of Cal­i­for­nia Ra­di­a­tion Lab­o­ra­tory at Liver­more (now Lawrence Liver­more Na­tional Lab­o­ra­tory). The Ra­di­a­tion Lab­o­ra­tory Liver­more Credit Union as it was first named, was es­tab­lished to pro­vide fi­nan­cial ser­vices for the en­tire Lab com­mu­nity. Then in 1988, the name was changed to UN­CLE (Univer­sity of Cal­i­for­nia Liver­more Em­ploy­ees) Credit Union, proudly of­fer­ing mem­ber­ship to any­one who lives, reg­u­larly works, at­tends school or reg­u­larly wor­ships in Alameda, Con­tra Costa, San Joaquin or Stanis­laus coun­ties. Dur­ing the past 60 years, they have grown to more than $449 mil­lion in as­sets and over 27,000 mem­bers.
