San Jose police investigate a fatal stabbing in home
SAN JOSE » Pol ice on Thursday are investigating a homicide near the Japantown neighborhood in which one man was fatally stabbed and a second man identified as the suspect was found with life- threatening injuries from “at least one gunshot wound.”
San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia confirmed that detectives were investigating a homicide in the 0-100 block of Ayer Avenue, located off North First Street. It is the city’s 24th homicide of 2018.
Police said there are no outstanding suspects in the case.
About 8:30 a.m., officers responded to an Ayer Avenue house for a welfare check, Garcia said. Several minutes later, the call was updated to a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a man “suffering from at least one stab wound” and a second man “suffering from at least one gunshot wound.”
The stabbing victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man who was shot was described by police as the suspect and was taken to a hospital with lifethreatening injuries. Po- lice did not immediately clarify how the suspect was injured in a shooting.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after they confirm his identity and notify his family.
