Taco Bell customer who might have seen fatal shooting sought
LIVERMORE » The driver of a white Volkswagen going through a drive-thru at a Taco Bell has become the focus in an investigation into the fatal shooting of a 16-year- old boy earlier this week, police said.
Police have been on a manhunt for 21-year- old Jorge Luis Tellez, of Livermore, since the shooting, which occurred about 9:25 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Taco Bell located in the 900 block of East Stanley Boulevard. They issued an arrest warrant for murder on him Tuesday, after the boy died at a hospital.
Authorities have not identified the teen, citing the murder investigation.
Police now want to find the the Volkswagen’s driver; officers say that person was in the Taco Bell drive-thru line when the shooting happened.
Police on Thursday released a picture of the Volkswagen and asked the driver to contact them.
Tellez remained on the loose Thursday. Police said he and the victim knew one another and that they argued before the shooting.
A SWAT team went to Tellez’s residence Tuesday to serve a search warrant, but he wasn’t there. Police subsequently issued the arrest warrant for murder.
Police warn anybody who sees Tellez to consider him armed and dangerous and not to approach him. They urged anyone who sees him to call 911 or 925-371- 4790. The latter number is the same one they urged the Volkswagen driver to call.
The homicide is the first Livermore since November 2016.
