Police issue arrest warrant for DeMarcus Cousins

- Staff and wire reports

Police in Mobile, Alabama, have issued an arrest warrant for former Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, USA Today reports.

The mother of Cousins’ son recorded a phone conversation in which a man is heard telling her he will “put a bullet in your (expletive) head.” She told police the person on the other line was Cousins.

She filed a police report on the call and sent a copy of the recording to TMZ Sports.

USA Today reports that Mobile’s court website lists a thirddegree harassing communications charge against Cousins. The argument stemmed from Cousins’ desire to have his son travel to attend his wedding, which was last weekend.

The alleged victim confirmed to USA Today that she knew of the warrant. This news organization has chosen not to identify her in this story.

Cousins tore his ACL earlier in the offseason after signing a oneyear, $3.5 million deal with the Lakers. ZAZA IS BACK » Zaza Pachulia, a contributor to a pair of Warriors championships, retired from the NBA and joined Golden State as a consultant, the team announced. The 35-year- old Pachulia, who was the starting center for the Warriors during their title years in 2017 and ’18, spent last season with the Pistons. After ending his 16-year playing career, he’ll contribute to Golden State in both the business and basketball operations, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

In another big move, the team promoted Kirk Lacob, owner Joe Lacob’s son who has spent nine years as an integral part of the Warriors’ braintrust, to executive vice president of basketball operations. He was most recently an assistant general manager.

Mike Dunleavy Jr., a former Warriors player, was also given a promotion. After spending last season as a Warriors scout, the former No. 1 pick was elevated to assistant general manager.

In addition, Kent Lacob, the younger son of owner Joe Lacob, was promoted from general manager of the Santa Cruz Warriors to the Warriors’ director of team development.
