Due to his two-way contract, Bowman heads to G League

Warriors two-way contract guard Ky Bowman has been assigned to the G League and will not travel with Golden State for tonight’s game in Utah. The move is aimed at maintaining Bowman’s few remaining days of NBA eligibility.

Having already used 32 of the 45 days of NBA service allotted to two-way contract players, Bowman will play for the Santa Cruz Warriors against the Agua Caliente Clippers. Not traveling with the team will save him up to three days.

The Warriors are working on ways to convert Bowman’s contract to a regular 15-man roster spot but, in the meantime, are trying to get the most out of his two-way contract limits. In an attempt to stretch out Bowman’s time, the Warriors have sat the 22-yearold guard out of recent practices.

With 14 healthy players for the first time since the opening week of the season, the team can afford to leave Bowman behind for the one-game trip. He is expected to rejoin the team upon their return to San Francisco.

In 26 games (six starts),

Bowman averaged 8.6 points, 2.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 23 minutes per game. His appearance Friday will be his G League debut.

• Draymond Green will sit out tonight’s game, with the team citing rest. Rookie forward Eric Paschall is listed as doubtful as he heals from lingering hip soreness.

Green, who has missed nine games this season with various injuries to his back, finger and heel, played 39 minutes in the Warriors’ overtime loss to the Knicks on Wednesday. The Warriors plan to strategically rest Green this season as they monitor his workload. In 17 games this season, Green averaged 9.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 28.8 minutes per game.

Without Green, Paschall and Bowman, the Warriors will have 11 available players against the Jazz. It should allow players like Kevon Looney and Jacob Evans, both of whom recently returned from injuries, to see more minutes. Looney, in particular, has struggled to find his rhythm, logging just five minutes against the Knicks.
