Stanford’s defense keys late rally past Washington

Tyrell Terry hit a goahead 3-pointer with under two minutes to play, and Stanford overcame a 12-point deficit to stun Washington 61- 55 on Thursday night at Maples Pavilion.

Daejon Davis scored 12 points, including a gametying 3-pointer, all in the second half for the Cardinal (13-2, 2-1Pac-12), which has won six of seven.

Jaden McDaniels produced his first career double- double with 18 points and a season-high 15 rebounds for the Huskies (11- 5, 1-2), who were held scoreless over the final 3:12.

Stanford outscored Washington 26-8 over the final 11 minutes.

• Washington guard Quade Green was ruled academical­ly ineligible by the school and will miss the rest of the regular season. He was averaging 11.6 points and led the team in assists while starting 14 of 15 games.

OREGON BEATS ARIZONA

IN OT » Will Richardson scored 21 points, including seven of Oregon’s eight points in overtime, as the ninth-ranked Ducks held off No. 24 Arizona 74-73 in Eugene. Oregon (13- 3, 2-1 Pac-12) rallied to tie the game late in regulation and went ahead for good on Richardson’s jumper with 17 seconds left in overtime. Payton Pritchard, who played all 45 minutes, finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Ducks.

Nico Mannion led Arizona (11- 4, 4-1) with 20 points but had six turnovers.

WINSTON LEADS NO. 8MICHIGAN STATE OVER MINNE

SOTA » Cassius Winston scored 18 of his 27 points in the second half while Xavier Tillman finished with 19 points and a career- high 16 rebounds, leading No. 8 Michigan State (13- 3, 5- 0 Big Ten) to a 74-58 home win over Minnesota (8-7, 2-3). NO. 19 MICHIGAN SURVIVES » Zavier Simpson scored 22 points, and Michigan hit big shots late as the 19thranked Wolverines (11- 4, 2-2 Big Ten) outlasted Purdue 84-78 at home in double overtime. BURTON LEADS NO .23 WICHITA STATE PAST NO .21 MEMPHIS» Jamarius Burton scored 16 points to lead No. 23 Wichita State past No. 21 Memphis 76-67 at home.

Erik Stevenson had 12 points for the Shockers (141, 2- 0 AAC). Precious Achiuwa had 22 points and 12 rebounds for Memphis (123, 1-1).

Women’s basketball

BAYLORENDS NO. 1UCONN’S 98- GAME HOME WIN STREAK » Teá Cooper scored 27 points, and No. 6 Baylor ( 12-1) used a dominant fourth quarter to beat topranked UConn 74-58 in the nonconfere­nce game, ending the Huskies’ 98-game home winning streak.

UConn ( 12-1) fell one victory short of tying its own NCAA record of 99 in a row at home. The Huskies previous loss at home came in the Big East final against Notre Dame on March 12, 2013.

This wasn’t the first time that Baylor ended one of UConn’s streaks. The Bears topped UConn last season, ending the Huskies’ 126- game regular-season wining streak.

NO. 16 GONZAGA SHUTS DOWN SAINT MARY’S » Katie Campbell and Lee-Anne Wirth led a balanced attack with 14 points apiece, and No. 16 Gonzaga whipped Saint Mary’s 7449. Jill Townsend had 11 points for Gonzaga (15-1, 4- 0 WCC). Madeline Holland had 15 points for Saint Mary’s (9-7, 4-1).
