Decision looms on Curry’s return to action Sunday
SAN FRANCISCO » The Warriors will meet today at the team’s practice facility at Chase Center to determine the next course of action about Stephen Curry’s impending return, coach Steve Kerr said Thursday.
With a back-to-back set upcoming — they play the Suns on Saturday and the Wizards on Sunday — the Warriors will hold a brief team meeting before running Curry through a light scrimmage and re- evaluating the status of his surgically repaired left hand. The Warriors should have an update on his return this afternoon.
On Wednesday, Curry participated in his second scrimmage since breaking a bone in his left hand in a loss to Phoenix on Oct. 30. Kerr said he would like for Curry to scrimmage again before making a decision on his return date. Curry has long eyed Sunday’s game against the Wizards to make his return.
When Curry does return, Kerr said he hasn’t decided whether or not there will be a minutes restriction. A
Sunday return would give Curry nearly 20 games to mesh with his new teammates, including Andrew Wiggins.
• Wiggins ( back spasm) did not play in Thursday’s game against the Lakers.
The decision was made minutes before tipoff.
This is Wiggins’ first missed game with an injury since the Warriors acquired him before the Feb. 6 trade deadline. In six games, he is averaging 19.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 32.2 minutes per game.
Guard Mychal Mulder, recently signed to a 10- day contract, made his debut.
